  1. Hey Salma!
In my opinion, I think you artwork is fairly successful on creating composition. You have a good composition because the object balance with each other well and it spread out in in the area of the box, but a little crowded in the middle (the m&m and the bottle). Also I think it’s a good idea that you choose to put some of her object on the side, to make the box more interesting and not plain. When I first look at your artwork, the lips treatment in the middle caught my attention immediately. So, I think the emphasis on your artwork is the Lip treatment. But am just wonder, why did you choose to emphasis the Lip Treatment? To me,I think the most interesting part your artwork is the ‘m&m’ figure. It seems to be the only thing that is different from other object, because the rest of the object is just a basic object, and they are in the same categories. But the ‘m&m’ is more cartoon like which make it the most interesting object in your work. Yes, the visual and material in your work look very similar to my visual and material culture. The water bottle, the nail polish or lip gloss, and the black bottle behind it which I am assuming it mascaras, and the m&m. I also own these object and use it someone in my everyday life. I think you could improve your composition a little bit, by changing the size of the object inside the box. Since both of the objects is kind of big, they make the box looks a little crowded and they are squeezing together. Also on the left side of the box, maybe you could move the nail polish up or down a little bit, so we can tell what the black bottle is. But overall I think your box is pretty cool :)

P.S. From the picture we can see that you put a picture along the inside edge of the box, what kind of picture are those (logo?)?

  2. Hello Salma!

Judging the student's artwork, how successful was the student in creating composition (use of space)?
The materials and culture objects are arranged in a very interesting composition. It shows a scene and well balance.
What is the emphasis (area most stressed) in the artwork? Explain.
The most emphasized area of the artwork is the middle of the box with the M&M figure, the lip balm and the yogurt tube, because these objects take most of the space.
Does the visual and material culture in the student's artwork look similar to your visual and material culture? If yes, what is similar?
The most interesting part of the artwork is the M&M toy figure because it has interesting composition and it represents the diverse interests of the student.
How do you think the student could improve their artwork? (Composition, value, neatness, movement, design, selection of material) Please be specific as possible.
The student’s artwork was dull and the student could improve their artwork by making it more interesting and adding more diverse objects which can represent the student’s both international and native culture.

Anyway, i think your box is very interesting and i really like it. :D

    Sincerely, Marvin

  3. Dear Marvin,

I thought that your composition was successful, because it made me figure out many things about your identity that I had no idea about. The emphasis of the artwork was the fruit loops sign because it always drags me to look at it. I couldn't choose what the most interesting part of the art work was because there were a few things I didn't get what they were. We both put money from our own currency on our box. We also both put lip balm on the box which means that we both use it. I suggest that you add stuff that are more common here in Egypt because there are many things i didn't get.

*What is the red guy in the bottom right?
